Sustainable Woods

Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus wood comes from the same tree as its name. It is one of the fastest growing sources of wood in the world. It's a naturally durable and beautiful hardwood that is highly resistant to water, mold and insect infestation. Because eucalyptus trees are so fast growing, they're more readily available and are generally less expensive. Though little to no maintenance is necessary to preserve your eucalyptus furniture,it can be treated with teak oil to further preserve the wood's natural color. Either way, tropical eucalyptus wood is durable enough to survive harsh outdoor weather but beautiful enough to earn a place in your home.

Mango: Mango wood comes from the popular mango tree, just like the fruit. Mango trees are widespread throughout South East Asia, particularly Thailand. It's a beautiful pinkish color and very easy to work with. However, because the best wood comes from the softer core, it is prone to manifestation. Thus, mango wood works best when sealed with a tough, natural finish. We recommend teak or tung oil, as they're both incredibly durable and environmentally friendly.

Because mango wood is not naturally weather resistant, we recommend using mango wood products in your home. At Verde Lifestyles, we carry various end tables, stools, and vases made of mango wood.

Teak: Is a tropical hardwood that is considered one of, if not the strongest woods in the world. It is no naturally durable and repellent, in fact, that it virtually needs no maintenance. Teak wood can be left out year round and survive even the most intense environmental conditions. Teak wood is impervious to water, thus perfect for use outdoors or in areas that are prone to moisture.

Teak furniture is great for use in weathered or wet areas. At Verde Lifestyles, we provide teak wood pieces for the home, like this line of chairs. We also have a decorative ladders that can be used indoors or out, and a series of spa accessories that will handle high amounts of moisture. Teak wood products can be placed in any space inside or outside of your home. Once their life cycle has ended, or you've found a new product to replace it, don't hesitate to use your teak wood piece as a decoration in the garden or as a decorative piece of outdoor furniture. Teak's natural durability provides endless possibilities for any piece it preserves.

Monkey Pod/Rain Tree: This type wood comes from the very plentiful Albizia Saman tree species in South East Asia. Wood derived from this tree is often called Monkey Pod, Rain Tree or Saman. This wood is highly sustainable because it comes from some of the fastest growing, most abundant trees in the world. The tree quickly develops a thick trunk that has interlocking grains that keeps it from cracking in dry climates with lower levels of humidity. It is durable, thus easily carved and taken care of.

At Verde Lifestyles we carry several pieces of wall decor, which allow you to show off the natural, beautiful coloring of the Monkey Pod wood. Because it is not as durable and water-resistant as other types of wood, we recommend using these beautiful pieces indoors.
